Capital City Four Wheelers, or CCFW, is a family-oriented four wheel drive club in the Richmond, Virginia metro area. We organized in 1983, with about 12 families — our members, and have grown to 44 member families in 2017. When we began in 1983, most of us were just starting out raising our families. Now the children of the first generation are coming back to join as members themselves - and their children are members too.
We hold a number of favorite activities each year, and attempt some new adventures from time to time. One of our main events is our Surf Fishing Tournament, which we hold on Cape Hatteras, NC during October. It is a fund-raiser event that also lets us give back to the community. 2017 marked our 32nd annual tournament.
We also hold, or participate in, several trail rides, often in the mountains of Virginia. We have adopted a ‘trail’ in the National Forest west of Harrisonburg, VA. We are active participants in the Annual Trail Ride for the Virginia 4 Wheel Drive Association.
In addition, we are set up to help out Henrico Doctors Hospital by driving staff in and home during severe snow storms. They, in turn let us hold our meetings there in the Cafeteria on the second Tuesday every month at 7:30 PM.
